Rise & Shine Childcare

Hi, I am Rachel Davis, I am an OFSTED registered Childminder for childcare in Lordswood, Southampton (SO16). I have over 2 years professional experience of working with children of all ages and abilities and understand the importance of educational play in a safe environment. Our educational play area has plenty of books, games and toys for all ages with the ability for messy play like baking, water, kinetic sand and crafts. We use my secure rear child friendly garden, allowing children to move play to the garden if they wish. I am currently registered to childmind for two 1 year - 5 year olds and three 5+yr olds. I work from home where I live with my daughter, very close to the Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Maternity Hospital, the Common and the Sports Center. My home is child friendly with ample space for snack area, book/quiet area, play area where I hold all arts and crafts, role play(dressing up) and construction area, puzzles and games. We have different toys and books to learn from that show all different occupations and ethnicity. I work closely with children on sensory activities, such as cooking and games involving touch, smell, taste, hear and visual clues. It is paramount to me that I provide each and every child in my care, a safe, stimulating and engaging range of environments to learn and develop. Equality and inclusion is practiced at all times. We are a family who love pets and the great outdoors and go out rain or shine (wellies recommended!!). We often visit and explore the local nature trails and spend time playing various games down the park, feeding the ducks at the Common, learning all about bugs, insects and other items of interest in nature. I also have a safe and secure garden which is child friendly. We live with our two cats, Bobby and Roxy, although very lovely in temperment and I'm sure they would prefer to just sleep all day, I would never leave any child unattended with the pets for any length of time.
